About Canine Massage Therapy

Canine massage is the use of various hands-on massage techniques applied to the canine's muscular system to assist in creating balance throughout the body. The technique that is practiced is "Sports Massage". It utilizes classic Swedish massage and Acupressure as well as techniques designed specifically for their beneficial impact on muscular tissue.

A full-body massage is applied every time to keep the body in balance. If one or two specific areas of the body are only massaged, it can create an imbalance which may be counterproductive to the objectives of the therapy.

There is strict adherence to the strokes and the sequential application of those strokes. It may take more than one session to notice improvements depending on the dog and how long the problem has existed.

Mechanical devices are prohibited in rendering the massage sequence. We also do not use any type of lotions or liquids on the dog's body.

Services can be provided in the privacy and comfort of your own home or my place of business. Some dogs accept the massage therapy quickly while others may need more time to adjust to the new experience. I always work at your dog's pace to ensure they are comfortable and acceptable with their therapy. My technique is gentle and effective based on knowledgable and compassionate touch.

Reiki is also a practice of hands-on healing. Rei means Universal or all-knowing and all-encompasing. Ki means life-force energy and is the same as Chi in Chinese or Prana in Sanskrit. Reiki can provide a deep sense of relaxation, reduce stress, accelerate healing, facilitate the relief of pain, work with original cause, assist the body in releasing toxins, lessen the affects of chemotherapy and radiation, or remove negative blocks. In fact, because the Reiki practitioner channels energy from the universal source, there is no limit to what Reiki can do.

When practicing Reiki, your canine companion and I require a very quiet area with no interruptions. I may play soft gentle music but we keep verbal communications at a minimum.
